Just around the corner...
SDCC is fast approaching us. As in, less than a week and a half. Any finite plans for meet-ups? Drinks downtown? Coffee (for Ianto!) and beatnik music?
Having said that, just one more week. EEEEE!!!

San Diego Comic Con 2009: Meetup?
Comic Con is coming upon us again. Anyone interested in a real
get-together this year?
Obviously, schedule pending and all that, but I'd like to get the ball rolling on a proper meetup this year. Unlike last year, when, well, things got a bit bonkers, really.

Comicon Panel Video
Okay, so I was posting the panel in bits and pieces and in .avi files. I was asked to post both the whole thing and as .mov files... so here's everything. Take what you'd like.
As a reminder/mention to any mods who worry about this sort of thing: this video is completely legal. Comicon folks came over the PA before each panel and basically said that as long as we didn't record footage showed by the studios, we were free to photograph, blog and record to our hearts' content and that they completely understood that this stuff would be disseminated over the internet.
This video footage is mine (such as it is), so if you pass on the links, please be sure to credit (or in this case, possibly, discredit) me. I learned the wonders of the tripod *after* attempting to film for an hour by holding the camera over my head so the video gets a bit jerky and in a few places there are audio problems. Sorry.
In this list of links in the 'bits and pieces' there are a few bits I didn't post earlier. In the whole panel there are bits I didn't bother isolating and posting as a 'bit'. One of which, I'm discovering is of interest, is John Barrowman discussing his interest in playing Captain America.
This video contains discussions of both the actors and the characters of Torchwood and a little of Doctor Who. There were no spoilers that I could recognize. (There were questions that got the answer of, "gee, yeah... can't tell you that" when asked about plans for the future.)
On to the good stuff...Video Clips of the San Diego Comicon Panel...

Lines, Lines, Everwhere Lines
What time is everyone starting to line up for the panels? I'm going to go to the Dr. Who and the Torchwood ones. I was thinking getting there about 2 hours ahead of time? Thankfully Comic Con has the policy of not clearing rooms between events.

SDCC08 Gathering News!
News at last!
There is 'rumored' to be a Torchwood panel on Thursday, July 24. John is said to be in attendance, and I'd imagine that Gareth will be as well. Who knows who else.
For those of you who don't know already, Gareth and John will be at the con over the weekend signing at a booth.
So, now its my turn. I want to try to set up a gathering of Torchwood fans on the day of the Torchwood panel. I know that days and times will change on the scheduled events until it is in stone. That said, I am going to run on the assumption that Thursday is our day until the schedule tells me otherwise.
I was thinking that this could be something very simple as Torchwood fans meetup at a location for a little while, bring fun Torchwood stuff, and just talk and whatever. It could be more elaborate, depending on what kind of help I can acquire.
I'm also going to begin to put a list together to see how many people we might
be expecting, so if you're really interested, let me know and I'll add you!
For now, that is my plan. Any concerns, suggestions, or comments? Leave a comment!

So to anyone planning to attend San Diego Comic-Con in the summer, I think it's important we start early in trying to show the promoters of the event that we want Torchwood (and Doctor Who) to be happily exploited at the event.
I sent the follow e-mail off to the SDCC: ( Behind the cutCollapse )
If you'd like to contact important people at all, please send all emails to firstname.lastname@example.org
, or look for more contact details at the official website
. You can also send a quick e-mail to BBC America through their website
, which I'm sure is also a big help. However, be respectful.x-posted various spots.
